About the Shadowrun: Awakened Project
Shadowrun: Awakened is an open source project run purely by volunteers. This means we are not specifically looking to turn our project into a published video game product. The game is currently under development. To join the team, please visit the help wanted page.
Project Goal
To create an exciting, fun, well balanced MMORPG game for the Shadowrun universe, using the 4th edition rule set. The project includes the use of XNA Game Studio and the C# programming language and will be developed for the Windows operating system.
Mission Statements
- Produce a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing game that emulates Shadowrun 4th edition set in 2070.
- Create an economy of wealth, advancement, and player interaction that makes a rich experience, not rich characters.
- Capture the dark, nihilistic tone of Shadowrun while having a sense of humor about it (as Shadowrun does), being faithful to the established fiction of Shadowrun while still telling our own, and telling stories inside of its framework.
- Produce a client & server program to connect players.
- Produce a 3D gaming experience built on character development and team-oriented gaming.
- Develop a world that expresses Shadowrun in as many ways as possible without losing elegant design.
- Produce a game that users can pick up and play, but keeps them coming back.
- Foster a community of healthy competition amongst the players, not domination.
