Factions

Players in Shadowrun: Awakened have many different groups they may choose to align themselves with or against. The instability of society has created opportunities for power and wealth that attract all sorts of people, especially those of questionable character.

Corporations

Aztechnology
Aztech This AAA corporation's members fiercely guard the company's secrets, of which it has many, with consumer goods, electronics manufacturing, magical research, and weapon sales all part of its repertoire of revenue sources. Shadowrunners will be hard pressed to break through the security, including three commsats, encrypted communications with the Tenochitlan headquarters, and the Leopard Guard at its North American hub in Seattle.
Horizon Group
Horizon The NewsNet division in Seattle goes to any lengths to get the scoop (or usually the dirt) on a story or political candidate. With the parent company's control of RockNet edutainment broadcasting and Horizon media feeds as well as the aforementioned NewsNet, this group can make or break anyone they decide to. The competition against other media outlets is cutthroat, and contracts can be had to plant surveillance equipment on an unsuspecting mark, throw off the competition, or make sure a confidential informant stays confidential and, more importantly, alive.
Mitsuhama Computer Technologies
Mitsuhama Computer Technologies The heavy industry company has increased its presence in Seattle since the Crash in order to expand its North American headquarters and better compete with Wuxing, Inc. in the mystic goods and services market. Some members of the group have ties to Japan's Watada-rengo Yakuza clan and will do anything in their power to put the hurt on Seattle's Shotozumi-gumi.
NeoNet
NeoNetThis organization is constantly battling Eastern Tiger and Renraku for control of the Asia-Pacific region, but its facilities in Seattle are quite lucrative in supplying the UCAS military with betaware implants and wireless solutions. Ever since the Matrix went wireless using NeoNet's technology, its employees have had a unique knowledge of the underlying mechanics of the system. There's good reason the Seattle Metroplex recently received an additional set of overlapping spider security networks.

Crime Syndicates

Yakuza
Yakuza Often known as the Japanese mafia by nonmembers, members of this group would call themselves honorable businessmen. Men being the operative word, as women are not desired in most cases. The Yakuza are further subdivided into gumis, or clans, each with their own leader, values, and historical background. The Yakuza are allied with the Mitsuhama corporation because of its ties to the Japanese Yakuza and enemies of the Mafia, another organized crime group.

The Shotozumi-gumi is led by Oyabun Hanzo Shotozumi is one of the more conservative clans, maintaining traditions and following rites or ceremonies others have forgotten. It provides protection to residents in the Downtown and Tacoma districts.

The Shigeda-gumi run by Oyabun Takeo Shigeda is less conservative but requires more of its members in order to protect its smuggling routes and gambling operations in Everett, Snohomish, Auburn, and the Redmond Barrens districts of Seattle.

Oyabun Kosuke Tomizawa leads the Kenran-kai, a newer clan that operates community services in Puyallup and also has the skills to take on the Mafia directly.
Mafia
MafiaThe Mafia has spent less time recently fighting against the Yakuza due to infighting for control of its operations by the many families that make up its ranks.

The Finnigan family is now run by Capa Rowena O'Malley after the assassination of Capo Maurice "The Butcher" Bigio. She provides the greatest possibility to reunite the Mafia against its Yakuza competitors. The Finnigans operate mainly in the Downtown dock area and in Bellevue.

The Ciarnello family works in corporate finance, prostitution, and pornography within Snohomish and Everett with Don Vince "Numbers" Ciarnello at the helm.

The Gianelli family took on the Bigio family after Maurice Bigio's death and added the members to its already-small ranks in order to further its hijacking, smuggling, loan-sharking, and fencing in the Seattle districts of Tacoma, Puyallup, and Auburn.

Tribes

Sinsearach
Sinsearach Another major tribe on the Salish-Shinde Council led by Gillian Morningsong. Formed in 2029, it consists mostly of elves who value environmental protection. Their land includes Mt. Rainier and areas southwest of Seattle.

Gangs

The Ancients
Ancients This gang in Seattle is unique in that it consists entirely of elves. The leaders Sting and Green Lucifer oversee smuggling from Salem and Portland into Seattle and some protection rackets. The long life span of an elf means young members must make use of violence in order to take the place of their elders.
Halloweeners
Halloweeners One of the largest Downtown gangs, the loss of the leader Slash-and-Burn led to a period of infighting until a new leader, named Nightmare, was identified. The gang continued on its crusade to create havoc for corporations through vandalism and violence, but now does not have any hesitation in targeting anyone else seen as a threat.
