Donations
From Shadowrun: Awakened
Donations are funds gifted to Shadowrun: Awakened from the members and supporters of the project. These funds are not profits by any stretch of the imagination. They are vital funds provided to keep the expenses of the project from precluding its continuation.

Gathering Donations
For the project, donations are gathered over Paypal. This account is currently banditkills@awakenedmmo.org linked from our homepage and SourceForge page. To make a donation, perform the following steps:
- list steps to make a donation, once we get it up and running
Where is the money going?
In an open source project, it can be difficult to decide where money is spent. If we were a big game studio we would be able to pay salaries, upkeep a lot of equipment, and maintain our own marketing. Both the good and bad part of being open source is that we don't have to do that. After group discussion, we have arrived at the following priorities for expending any money resources the group may acquire. They are ordered greatest to least important.
- Reimburse members' accruing costs from supporting the project. This includes hosting for this website. Currently our expenses are few.
- 3D assets. One idea would be to offer a 3D art contest where top contributor wins a cash prize
- Advertising dollars for hyping the 1.0 release
- Saving for a full-time server (currently estimated at at least $100 dollars a month)
- Discretionary budget for any other expense approved by all members
Who is managing the money?
At the moment, Stephen Turner is officially handling funds. His Paypal account notification system will be widened to include core membership as needed. We have installed a "banker" and "treasurer" system where one person tracks incoming money and another approves outgoing money, both double-checking each other's numbers. Also, a monthly report on donations will be submitted to all active members for group oversight.
Any use of donations not covered under goal #1 stated above, reimbursement of costs, must be done with group approval.
Purse strings
