Healing
From Shadowrun: Awakened
Recovery from wounds.
Game Rules Description
In the 4th edition of Shadowrun there are just two different tracks, Stun and Physical.
- Full stun boxes = knockout
- Full Physical boxes = dying
To heal Stun:
- Make Body + Will (1 hour) extended test. Must rest the whole time in this hour. Each hit heals one box.
To heal Physical:
- Make Body x 2 (1 day) extended test. Must rest the whole time in this day. Each hit heals one box.
Technical Implementation
Healing rates will be fixed based on formulas using character attributes:
- ((Body+Will)/3) stun boxes healed every game hour
- Stun Damage heals at all times the character is online or asleep
- ((2*body)/3) physical boxes healed every day slept
- Physical damage can only be healed when the character "sleeps". The exact rate of regeneration has not been decided to be different than stated in the book, so we are speculating that the rate may need to be adjusted to solve the concern that mortally wounded characters will need weeks in real-time to heal. At the same time, we do not want characters to go from mortally wounded to healed in 4 hours. We can discuss a super-healing hospital visit (henceforth known as: "The Bacta Tank") at a later time.
A big key to this is also to remember that magical healing can take away physical, but not stun. Throughout a run, the mage/shaman will be regenerating stun and can heal some wounds (once per wound). This means that people are not necessarily stuck being wounded for their entire time online. In the same breath, we have to make sure that mages do not artificially increase the durability of parties to the point where people pick up being a mage just for the damage absorption ability.
