Lifestyles

From Shadowrun: Awakened

Jump to: navigation, search

Lifestyles in Shadowrun Awakened represent the condition of comfort and affluence your character is living. A character pays a certain amount of money each month to maintain their lifestyle. This pays for the food they eat, the power they consume, etc. The lifestyle is tied to a physical location. Lifestyles come in levels (currently writing without having checked the SR4 manual so costs will be omitted for now and this post may be modified later). Lifestyles also interact with travel.

NAME TRAVEL TYPE OFFERED DESCRIPTION
Street On foot You are a homeless person, living on the street and moving almost every night. This is very free.
  • Which will be changed to at least the character having to eat vendor meals at some point. 2 Y per meal. ~Steve
Squatter Public transportation (bus and monorail) You have settled into a home where you are able to scrounge in a given area and fulfill minimal requirements to live.
Low Public transportation (bus and monorail) or scooter. You have a small apartment, probably in a bad neighborhood. You probably have power most of the time and eat soy protein flavored with chemicals. You may have a basic trideo setup.
Middle Car or nice motorbike You have a small house or decent apartment in a place that is probably safe most of the time. You still eat soy, but can sometimes bring him some real food. You can easily afford a trideo with 300 channels, maybe you even have a simsense video collection.
High Performance/Luxury Car You have a house in a secured neighborhood. You eat real food and have all the amenities you could really ask for.
Luxury Limo with a driver at least, probably a personal helicopter You flaunt your wealth. You can have pretty much anything you want when you want it.

Technical Implementation

Lifestyles will be confined locations in the game that the character and his party can approach and enter. It will be the only place where dropped items remain after the zone is reloaded for the character.

Lifestyles will start out as identical for each player. More variety will come with time and more assets.

Lifestyles will start out as inaccessible to NPCs, keeping us from sending assassins against players. That will change in time as well.
