Travel will have many aspects, see below:
Street - On foot.
Squatter - Only public transportation (bus and monorail)
Low - Public transportation (bus and monorail) or scooter.
Middle - Car.
High - Performance/Luxury Car.
Luxury - Limo with a driver at least probably a personal helicopter (Modern day Mexico City has a lot of chopper-commuters amongst its very influential business citizens, I imagine future Seattle could manage the same)
The most common is likely to be on Foot and Monorail.
Monorail can travel up to 200mph.
Technical Implementation
There will be a monorail system running through all of Seattle. The monorail must have stops in ever public "zone" of the world or wherever we can logically place a convenient stop for it. It is the duty of level design to ensure the monorail is included as such.
Cars and other vehicles can be seen as very deadly weapons. Level designers must take pains to separate foot traffic from vehicle traffic. Raised promenades, skybridges, and walled off paths are good examples of what should be used. Anyplace where pedestrians and vehicles may be unavoidably in the same place, such as in a parking garage, an "auto-pilot" should automatically engage, causing the car to follow a set path and speed out of the area, preventing players from killing other characters. This will require a node-driven scripting implementation for vehicles such as we have planned for NPC movement.
